| The Diagnodent Laser Cavity Detector Recent research has made us aware that dentists were missing 70% of the most common decay. This was when we were only using the pick or explorer to find decay. However we are fortunate today now that we have the FDA approved Diagnodent laser cavity scanner. The FDA has approved it as 100% accurate We are now able to identify cavities when they are in their earliest stages, When they are small, easy to fix (often without shots), and least expensive as well. The device is more accurate than x-rays for finding this type of cavity. The reason we still take x-rays is that there are many things we are able to find, which cannot be diagnosed any other way cavities that occur between teeth and infections that occur at the root tips. How does it work? The Diagnodent is absolutely painless. It shines a beam of laser light on the tooth and by measuring the reflected light it can tell if cavities are present. It then displays a number indicating the extent of the cavity. |
